The Port St. Joe website development company I work for has just released a new website for an existing client. Donald Smiley, the owner of Smiley Apiaries has asked us to re-vamp his Florida Tupelo Honey website. Donald has been with our Port St. Joe web development firm (Bluewater iNet Group, LLC) since 2001, where he’s been selling Tupelo Honey online daily.
As many of you may know, I wear many hats. Not only am I a web developer, I’m an aspiring photographer. My company which in the past has specialized in Florida Virtual Tours now offers product photography. You can preview the product photos by visiting Donald’s Florida Tupelo Honey website.

OK, so here’s the deal… I live in Florida, and it gets HOT during the summer. I like camping, but I hate sweating at night. So i’ve picked up a 5000BTU air conditioner from ACE Hardware and rigged it up to work with a tent.
I purchased some 4×8 sheet of insulating material similar to the stuff used by HVAC people and made a box for the return air, as well as a vent using dryer vents. Its kinda hard to explain, but easy as heck to figure out once you see the photo.

The top vent is for the cool air, and the bottom two vents are for the return air. I didn’t want to restrict the return so i installed two ducts instead of just one. It would have been ideal to install one larger duct, but i couldn’t find anything quickly.
Here’s some more photos showing it installed on the tent:

BEWARE OF SECURITY EQUIPMENT COMPANY
When I first moved into the house I had Security Equipment Company out of Panama City Florida install my security system for me. To make a long story short, I had called them up to cancel my monitoring. At which time they made no mention that I was still in a contract NOR the fact that I would be charged $304.00 to cancel. I cancelled in May 2008… its currently May 2009 and I wanted to re-instate my monitoring. Well, I gave them a call just to find out that I owed them this money, and to top it off.. they sent it to collections!
WTF is Security Equipment Company thinking? I pulled my credit to find that I have 14 total accounts all in good standing, except for one from these low-lifes.
All I can say is be ware of Security Equipment Company AKA Devcon-Security
You’re much better off using ADT like I’m switching to.

Jessica and I were sitting around the house looking for a mini-vacation and realized that neither of us had been to St. Augustine, even though we only live 4.5hours away.
We took a long weekend from friday to monday to enjoy what Historic St. Augustine had to offer. One of the highlights of the trip was the fort Castillo de San Marcos. The timing was perfect… as they got ready to shoot off the cannon’s everyone left and went upstairs.. making it a prime opportunity for a photo shoot.
Castillo de San Marcos Virtual Tour
I quickly found out that St. Augustine does not operate on the “good ‘ole boy” system. On the beaches of Cape San Blas and Mexico Beach its perfectly safe to leave your flip-flops at the end of the boardwalk without any worry that someone would steal them. This is not the case at Anastasia State Park! We walked down the long boardwalk where I kicked off my shoes…. not even thinking that someone would actually want somebody elses stinky flip-flops. I WAS WRONG! After 5 min or so I got a weird feeling in my gut and went back to check on them… and yup, you guessed it… they were gone!
Lesson learned. You just can’t trust anybody!

This past weekend I went deep sea fishing with a buddy several miles off the tip of Cape San Blas. We met up at the Port St. Joe Marina and made our journey from there. I’d like to say we caught our limit plus… but that wasn’t the case. None the less we all got a fish two… with Mike landing a huge red snapper.
I wish I had taken photos, but you’ll have to take my word for it. It was HUGE.

One of my fondest memories as a child was our visits to the Battleship USS Alabama in Mobile. Every Thanksgiving or Christmas my parents and I would take a trip to Mobile to visit family.
This past 4th of July weekend Jessica and I took Ross on his first of many trips to the battleship. Here’s a sneek peek at our trip: U.S.S. Alabama Trip Photos
